Ahsoka S1
A spin-off from The Mandalorian, this series serves as a continuation to the animated series Star Wars Rebels. It follows former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to the galaxy following the fall of the Empire.
2023
ILP’s work on Ahsoka Season 1 included various different tasks from building full CG environments, creating vehicles, props and character assets to FX and lighting, rendering and composing a total of 289 shots, ILP contributed to the show across 7 out of 8 episodes (EP101 to 106 plus 108).
The creation of a vast grassland stretching out to a distant horizon was one of the challenges faced by our generalist team. Cutting through this environment was a 10km stretch of straight concrete freeway on which Sabine Wren evaded the encroaching E-wings. This sequence had a mix of Sabine plates and full CG digidoubles for what couldn’t be caught in camera.
We also used our newly developed crowd tools to help extend the city for the Lothal remembrance ceremony.
For episodes 3, 4 and 5 we also developed multiple red forest environments. We created an extensive library of highly detailed forest assets for both wide establishing shots and close to the ground more intimate shots. We added details with extensive scattering of smaller assets such as leaves, moss and various volume clouds.
Another highlight was animating the rock em sock em punch up between Huyang and the deadly HK Droid. We started by following the choreographed stunt artists but soon veered off to find the fighting characteristics of these two opposing droids. The vast majority of this sequence was full CG fully hand animated.
