Battlefield 2042 Exodus Short Film
Set in the World of 2042, Kimble “Irish” Graves returns as the commander of the No-Pat vessel Exodus, forced to choose between the lives of the 200 refugees on his boat and the future of all the Non-Patriated.
2021
On August 12, 2021, the standalone short film "Battlefield 2042 | Exodus" premiered on YouTube. In collaboration with Electronic Arts Games and DICE, we produced 9 minutes of full CG for the launch of Battlefield 2042, depicting the events that trigger an all-out war in 2042.
Our team of 50 artists created 14,000 frames over 7 months, totaling 560,500 rendering hours to produce realistic water, explosions, soldiers, and other elements expected in a futuristic Battlefield.
From the early stages of production, ILP collaborated with Kryler Åkerström Film, Electronic Arts, and DICE to develop the visual narrative. Our involvement spanned previsualization, look development, final animation, and compositing. The team drew inspiration from references provided by Electronic Arts, creating a thrilling and action-packed short film.
It was an honor to be part of the world-building and storytelling of Battlefield 2042. The creative possibilities when working full CG are super exciting! Having full control of all aspects of the look and feel of the production is challenging but our artists get to unleash their full imagination and capabilities and it makes the final results extremely rewarding.
